The Happy Problem

The Happy Problem

On December 21st, I along with my best friend Carolyn made our way to one of our favorite venues in NYC, The Trash Bar. We went there to check out one of my current favorite NYC based bands, The Happy Problem. If that was not enough, the show also doubled as a coat drive so seeing some great music & helping out the less fortunate makes for an awesome time.

The room had a good energy even after 2 sub par openers. However the quality & energy improved by leaps & bounds when The Happy Problem hit the stage for a 9 song set which included some personal favorites such as The Prettiest Girl & Seaweed (my favorite THP song!) which ended the set. Some other songs from the set included Matador (official music video) which happens to be the first single off their recent album Head Case. We even had the debut of a song written by bassist Joe Nerve which was titled Swimming Pool.

I have attended many shows over the years & always appreciate finding a band I know will satisfy me every time I see them perform. The Happy Problem definitely fits the bill for me when I want an upbeat performance filled with some high energy numbers that deliver musically & lyrically. If you ever have the chance to check them out, I highly suggest that you do!

As a treat, check out 2 videos from this show: Seaweed & Swimming Pool
