The DeVilleBillies: The DeVilleBillies

CD: The DeVilleBillies

Disclaimer: Listening to this CD may lead to uncontrollable laughter, two-stepping marathons and copious consumption of beer.
Once upon a time, country music was gritty and realistic. We knew the lyrics, we sang along because we could relate to them, or because they were a fun poke at the mediocrity of our own lives.
Things have changed, and not for the better. Country music has been prettied up, diluted by Barbie dolls that pen lyrics to the same old stale tunes. Top 40 C & W is no longer for the common folk; it’s Hollywood with a twang.
But Nashville has a new threat looming in Wisconsin. Tired of the pomp and polish of recent country releases, The DeVilleBillies have brought the grittiness and down-home boot-stomping fun back into C & W music.
Their self-titled CD includes tracks such as Party In The Trailer Park, Cowgirl Butts (Drive Me Nuts) and my personal favorite, Truck Drivin’ Woman. None of these songs will let you sit in your chair for long, and all of them will have you singing along while you’re driving down the highway.
