Sitting here listening to the poignancy of Larry Coule, singer/songwriter of Slowstinger, I’m covered in goose bumps as his emotionally charged tracks creep into my psyche. It’s like finding a diamond in a coalmine. Larry has a gift for taking life and weaving it into his lyrics, creating snapshots of the world around him. His vocals carry the pain and hope he writes about, and the listener is taken along for the journey.

Case in point is the track Alive. After encountering a homeless teen in the cold, grimy inner city blocks of Edmonton, and taking the time to learn the kid’s story, Larry went home and brought the melancholy tale of abuse to light, while still ending on the same optimistic note that the street kid held, in spite of his current circumstances. There is no way you can listen to this track and come out on the end feeling the same way you did going in.

Backed by Mike Zenith on drums, and a host of special guest vocalists & musicians such as Corvid Lorax and Shannon Liddell, Larry is currently in the studio, recording the pro version of Slowstinger’s CD Come Clean and his fans are waiting in eager anticipation.<
