About Us
Surge FM is made up of individuals from all over who have one thing in common, the desire to promote truly talented artists to as many people as possible. Let's meet the Surge FM Team:
David Holland: Founder/Owner
Music has been an obsession of mine since I first touched a guitar at the age of 3. Living in New York has giving me the privilege to befriend & watch some of the most talented musicians one could ever meet. While I do play the guitar, my passion is for being behind the scenes instead of performing. I have made it one of my life goals to get as much great music as I can out to the masses as they have been missing out for way too long!
Elayne ‘Red’ Sallemi: Executive Artist Recruiter & Writer
Red has been in the music scene ever since she could support her own head. Born and raised in New York, east coast style. Always up for a good show, whether it be hip-hop or hardcore, you’ll probably run into her there. In tune with the local artists and trends, most people consider her one of the best promoters in the NY scene. She has become a voice for the voiceless in the industry and will continue until the record in her head stops spinning.
If you would like to contact Elayne 'Red' Sallemi for interviews, promotions, questions, or just to say 'Hey!', shoot her an .
Carolyn Delvalle: Writer
Carolyn was born and raised in Bronx,NY. Ever since she could remember music has been to her as vital as the air we breathe, it tells so many stories, conveys various emotions and can bring back the best of memories. Writing and graphics design are two hobbies she enjoys. Having moved to Brooklyn,Ny in 2008, she has enjoyed every opportunity to support local indie artists & will continue to do so.
Angie Ho: Writer
Angie lives and dreams in the arts world. A recent art graduate from UC Berkeley, she dabbles in drawing/painting and photography to make no living. And writes a lot of nonsense on her blog (According to A. Ho) and films everything she thinks is beautiful (which is like almost everything) for even less money. If art is her sun, music is surely her moon.
Angie grew up with parents who didn’t listen to music (and thus did not know the Beatles until she was 12). However, magically, it came to her and engulfed her completely. Next thing the world knows, she’s playing the piano laying upside down and going on international honeymoons with her guitar. Her woman cave is filled with (legally) downloaded music, vinyl records, cassettes, and cd’s. She constantly adds to an infinite “to listen” list (and if you want to be added to it or know somebody that should, you must ) , and is so on top of the music industry, she listens to musicians and bands that don’t even exist yet. Yeah, that’s how good she is.
Charlie Marks: Writer
Charlie Marks is a freelance Production Assistant. Living the dream of praying for work…and by work he means getting people coffee and locking up streets. Originally from Philadelphia, Charlie graduated from Penn State where he worked as a DJ for The Lion 90.7FM. His personal blog is about certain situations with women, awkward moments at the gym and or library, and how music explains life and life explains football.
Getting your music out there starts here. Feel free to send Charlie your tracks, CDs, Mp3’s, or mix tapes for a review and interview. He would rather write about up and coming bands than the latest Belle and Sebastian album. Besides, after your band gets famous, he can pick up girls in bars by saying, “I interviewed [your band] first. Now let’s go back to my parents house, they should be sleeping by now.”
M. Alberto Rivera: Writer
M. Alberto Rivera used to write a long time ago and stopped. 12 years later he was struck by lightning and used this time off to start writing once again. Now, he prefers to stay indoors on rainy days. He also played in a punk band, Skurvy the Clown, for a great many years, and has seen more shows than most people have thought of going to.
