Post CMJ 2011

This year I attended the CMJ music marathon for the first time ever. I went in with much anticipation but came out with a lack luster performance due to various unfortunate events that did occur. I ended up sick the very first day and could not attend any shows. I would have toughed it out had it not been for the advice of a friend. It wasn't anything major but enough to get me to not be able to come out to any shows.

The original idea was to come up with a schedule of shows that I wanted to attend but several things got in the way so I figured I would wing it.. I hate winging things like this, especially if I am unfamiliar as to where I am going considering my sense of direction needs improvement. I realized I wouldn't be able to be at the front of every show but would try my best. The overall factor of being unprepared mentally hindered my desire to want to make more of an effort.

The shows I did get to attend, I thoroughly enjoyed. I discovered a few amazing bands such as Guineafowl, The Grates and Jacob Jeffries Band. I could have not written a post review but I really wanted to share my experience as it wasn't all that bad. Next year, I will be better prepared.
